Private owners, including developers
Mickey Beisman has represented private owners ranging from developers to country club owners to historic renovators on, among other projects, tract housing; post office construction; country club renovation, and shopping center construction. She is familiar with the AIA, AGC and other types of form construction agreements.
She also understands that a private owner must both select the construction team and choose the contract documents. She also understands that pre-construction planning is an essential and, for that reason, offers the following tips to private owners:
1. CHOOSE A FORM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE CONTRACTOR THAT IS CLEAR AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND;
2. CHOOSE AN ARCHITECT WHO IS A TEAM PLAYER; AND
3. CHOOSE A CONTRACTOR WITH A PROVEN TRACK RECORD.
